Hello,

I have owned a Canon A620 for the last six months or so and have had no problems at all with using it for all kinds of pics. However, today, I powered up my camera and found that my LCD no longer works!

It doesn't seem to be anything obvious (ie. if i click the display button a few times an image still doesn't appear) and yet if I use the "remote shooting" option with my camera connected to my computer I can turn the LCD on without any problems. Similarly, after reading in the manual that the camera ignores display preferences when it is in stitch assist mode, I fired up my camera and toggled over to stitch assist and the LCD worked fine again.

So now I am just plain confused. My LCD seems to be functional, but I cannot get it to come up in any mode other than stitch assist. Any suggestions?? I am leaving for a cross Canada road trip on Thursday and I really wanted my camera in tip top shape!

Thanks so much for your help.

Is there a clear all settings function?

Success!

I managed to get the LCD working in stitch assist mode and then scrolled through and found the "default settings" option. Clicking on that and then restarting the camera seems to have done the trick!

Thanks so much. Not sure why I didn't think of that earlier. :o

Whatever the mystery ailment was, it's gone now.

Thanks again,

That happens alot, there is a button on the camera called "Display" it can switch from on screen settings to show, or not show. In play back it will change from full screen to split screen adding the histogram.

If you push it again it will turn the LCD off. Push the display button a few times and ill bet it will do it again. Its common that people bump it by accedent and then think it has failed when its just a setting they are unaware of or are unaware they have pushed it. It can save battery and it is a feature when the camera goes into suspend mode it will kick the LCD off.

The S2 has 2 displays and you can switch between the EVF or the LCD using the display button.

Glad you got it working again but ill bet thats what happened.
