I am looking for a nice digital camera to start on, nothing professional or anything, just pretty basic. I cannot decide between the Sony CyberShot DSC-S500 and the Nikon CoolPix L3. They both seem about equal and the prices are identical, and i have accumulated those technical specs which matter or differ the most.
The Sony has more pixels, at 6 mega to the Nikon's 5 mega,
The Sony has a 2.4 inch LCD to the Nikon's 2.0 inch LCD,
Both have 3x optical zoom,
Digital zoom does not matter,
The Sony has manual white balance while the Nikon does not,
Both have automatic ISO sensitivity but the Sony goes between 80-400 while the Nikon goes between 50-200,
The movie resolution on the Sony is 320x240 as compared to the Nikon's 640x480,
The Sony has 25 MB onboard memory where the Nikon has 32 MB onboad memory,
The dimensions of the Sony are 3.6 x 2.4 x 1.2 inches while the Nikon is 3.6 x 2.4 x 1.2 inches,
And finally the weight of the Sony is 6.6 oz and the weight of the Nikon is 4.2 oz.
As for image quality, does anyone know which produces better images?
Overall which camera do you believe is the better of the two?
Thanks,
