I have alot of SD memory cards for my old digital camera (Kodak) (3 to 4 Gigs). I was given today a new Sony DSC W50, however it looks like it takes Memory Sticks. Can I use my SD cards in the Sony? Any type of adaptors? I don't know what to do with them.

No - you can't use SD with Sony's that use memory sticks
Try selling them on ebay or get a new camera
Good luck

I own a W-5 series camera.

I have a question on the pictures. Why can't I view pics I copied from PC to my camera. I see the pics via Windows Explorer yet I can't view them on the LCD. I checked the file types and it's just the same JPG as the product file of my camera. And also right folder.

Is there some kind of protection on the MMS Pro Duo that I can change?

Cause, I also own a Canon Selphy C510 and I can't print pics I downloaded from the internet.

Typically the pictures don't contain the correct exif information that the camera expects and this causes a problem.

You should also check the dimensions of the picture and see if they exceed the cameras maximum of 2592 x 1944pixels. If they do the picture will not show.

Its a pity you have this problem as my H1 can show any pictures (jpegs) that I copy over to the camera as long as they are the maximum size or less.

One thing I do find is when looking at the pictures in index mode , ie you see the thumbnails in a 3x3 or 4x4 grid (whatever I don't have a W5 to check how many pics it shows) , pictures I copy from the net over to the camera show no thumbnail just an empty blue square, but if I move the selection to that picture and click the selector button to show the picture on the full lcd then the picture loads and shows fine.

The reason the picture does not show a thumbnail in index mode is there is no exif information embedded in the pic thus no thumbnail embedded in the picture.

However that is easily fixed if you can show the pic full screen. Just select the resize option and force the camera to resize to the same size as the picture, eg if I load a 5mp pic in I resize to 5mp , a new picture is formed and a thumbnail is embedded correctly so it shows in index mode.

You could also have a look at TVwriter at http://www.david-taylor.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/software/imaging.html#TVwriter

See if that can help the camera recognize the pictures you load into the camera.

Thanks Dude for the advise.

Come to think about it, I haven't tried renaming my downloaded files to the same filenames of the pics taken from the camera itself.

Ah, that will be it then.

Copied two pictures over to my H1, both exactly the same except one was called Dsc09999.jpg (standard Sony file naming) and the other the original name of the file.

Both where compressed down to the max pixels allowed for the H1 and indeed only the renamed file showed in the camera.
