Just joined forums, but checked back a year, didn't see a thread on this, so ...

I *just* bought a mausb-10 card reader for the Olympus, due to the fact that after 2 1/2 yrs, my C-60 zoom camera decided it didn't want to work any more, and I REALLY wanted to see the two cards of pics offa it ...

ANYWAY - when I tried to install, I got an error that the software wasn't certified for XP. I checked the olympus site, and they said that a windows XP driver was available. I go to download it, and it is the SAME driver software that came with my purchase. Every time I try and load the drivers, it fails out, or reboots my computer with a serious system failure. Research online seems to indicate a 50% failure rate when installing to XP.

Does anyone have or know a fix to this?? I have emailed Olympus, but haven't heard anything back.

I think I should have been suspicious when there were 3 price tags layered over this beast at Fry's. one for $49.99, one for $14.99, and the price that I bought it at, $4.90 ... did I just blow $5.00 on crap???

Stephanie

PS - if anyone knows why a C-60 might just decide to start shorting out batteries/AC adaptors, without charging me $70 for diagnostics, and $50/hr to repair, I am all ears.

OK, so after about the 15th time of installing/uninstalling, the danged thing just arbitrarily decided to work ( go figure) ... SO ..

Still trying to figure out why my camera just decided that it wasn't going to work, and why I can charge a battery, have it work in another camera, put in this one, no work, put back in old, no work ...

*sigh* gotta run - forgot to hide all the fireworks - husband alert!

Steph -

Glad to hear the card reader worked out for you!

When you say "shorting out" do you literally mean that or does the camera simpy not work despite whatever power source is being used? Cause if the battery was "shorted" then it shouldn't work in the C-60 or the other camera you're using. Do you possibly mean the batteries drain too quickly? Have you tried caling Olympus to troubleshoot the issue?

Eric
