Hi,
This is my first post to this forum,
forgive me if I breake some rules of the forum and my engilish :)...

I am planning to buy a new digital camera in 2 week time...

My old cam(actually still my only cam) is Olympus C310... it is a budget cam ... without any spectacular features and also image quality...
Now I want a much more power .... I mean I want to have some manual controls (ISO, Shuttur Speed... or F) and also generally better camera to learn this science a bit...

I have looked at some forums, and read some reviews of some popular cameras to suit my needs (again as far as my knowledge)... These are Panasonic Fz7, Canon A620 and Olympus Sp350... I have looked some Nikon and also Sony cameras as well but it seems that there is no (especially for Nikon) direct compeditor for the brands/models above..... I also know the Panasonic is belongs to difffrent class (about zoom capabilites) but I also take my hands and It feels good for(little impressed with body and compact size)...

I want to read your thoughts and opinnions about the models above and also direct me which one should I go ...my budget is up to Fz7...6mp is enough but more is not a bad thing.... I might take some fast moving objects (like f1).... indoor photos are important... I dont like to use flash ...I am not going to print all my photos in big scale ..... ...The device size is important... I dont want a device bigger than Fz7....

Panasonic Fz7, Canon A620 and Olympus Sp350...
I think the Olympus is worst and the A620 will make the best photos but doesn't have the zoom the FZ7 has. Sony W5/W50/W100 are close to the A620. How about the Canon A700 or Fuji E900?

Thanks for reply....

first of all Fuji is not in my list.. because it can be very hard to find this device in good price here.... and as for A700, I think A620 is a better device with a bigger sensor... A700 can give a much pixel which I dont care too much at that level... anyway...

I have seen and get the hand feeling of the devices today... I get a very good grip and feeling with panasonic... and suprisingly.. Olympus has a very very good feeling too... just suits my big hands... I think it is important the get comfort when you hold the cam with one hand... however A620 couldnt give the feeling of the previous devices... I simply couldnt place my finger confortably.. .. so couldnt hold the camre as stable as the others... I am dissapointed about that...

it seems that fz7 is more suitable for me about the ergonnomics and SLR style, rich design... but I am not very certain about the image quality of fz7 against A620... what do you think ?

the Olympus SP350 gets poor performance reviews...slow shutter speed, high lag, etc...

perhaps the fuji f30?

A friend has the A620, pretty good, though like someone mentioned, its been out for a while...

I love my Fuji f30, if you are curious, here are some pics I took using it in China last month..

All the pics were set on auto, just point and shoot...

The photos are great... I like the one whis you are on a camel (red color looks brilliant), the next one... and of course chinese girls...

Thanks for your reply...
But It is really hard to find that camera here... but I am going to search again .. and check the prices (if I find!)... but it looks like little small for my big hands... I am tall ... and small devices may cause problem to use... also aestheticly looks not that good too.. :) :o

F30 is not built for big hands. Try FZ7 for size then.

Thank you, if you get a chance, China is a great place to visit..

Anyway, I actually think the F30 looks good aesthetically..it is pretty small, so if you have giant hands, may be a bit inconvenient..

but its well built, sturdy, looks good...
