OK I have read so many reviews my head is spinning and most of the F30 weakness appears to be directed at bright light pictures, but when I look at the shots posted by jdhu, the shots taken outside in the daylight appear to look great. http://bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=170973

What am I missing? I am looking VERY closely at getting this camera. I take shots indoors, outdoors, day, night, pretty much whenever and whereever my son is doing something adorable (which I have to say is pretty much all of the time.) Please give me your thoughts. I read about 15 or 20 posts last night and most thoughts on this camera are very positive.

Thanks,

Tim

If you learn the camera and its settings, I find the bright light/outdoor shots to be perfectly fine. The pictures are sharp and colorful. I have shot about 1600 shots with my F30 so far... and a grand total of one had purple fringing that was even noticable... and only when I zoomed in with Photoshop.

Indoor shots are natural looking and aren't washed out because I usually shut the flash off entirely. The camera is small and easy to hold, even one handed. Images are clear, sharp, and big enough for prints or even liberal cropping.

Overall, I've been very happy with the F30's quality.

There is nothing wrong with the F30's pictures outdoors...for the average (ie. 95+% of users) person. When people compare camera's, it is very easy to start nit picking into little details to try and differentiate differences. We do this because the typical camera being looked into on these forums is VERY good to EXCELLENT already.

One particular detail people like to point out is that the F30 does not have a viewfinder. Without a viewfinder, you are restricted to using the LCD, which can become difficult to see/use in bright sunlight. I suppose it depends on the brightness of the day/sun, but I haven't had any problem with my F30 yet outdoors.

Yeah, I hear a lot about how you can't see LCD viewfinders in daylight. This is true of a lot of cameras... not the F30. I've taken mine out in bright sunlight on several occasions and haven't had any problem yet. It's a bright vibrant display with an anti-glare coating. Makes for a good viewfinder. I usually like to have an optical viewfinder, but I haven't missed it on this camera.

Thank you. That is what I was hoping to read! I am going to go ahead and pull the trigger on it now.

wow thanks man hehe...I am a total photography amateur, but the Fuji F30 is just awesome...I have found no weaknesses so far...even taking moving objects, the camera is just great...

Once I have time, I will actually learn to fully use the camera, the pics you referenced were all taken using automatic settings...

its small but not too small, well designed, feels sturdy, and is just simple and great...I waited from February until June to buy the F30..was worth the wait
