View Full Version : F10: ISO>400 =pink tint
Hello
I have made some photos with Fuji F10 and I've found, that when I set ISO above 400, the image has slightly pink tint. At ISO1600 it is even more pinkish. I don' think it's OK, because I had used another F10 for a short time and I don't find any visible tint changes at those photos.
The first photo is 400ISO, second is 1600 ISO. The last one is 1600ISO, made earlier, with another Fuji F10.
What do you think???

There is a lot more visable noise, but that is to be expected with the higher ISO. But I don't think they look pink. The brightness seems to be the only difference other than the noise.

Noise is not problem for me, as it is expected. But tint change is unusual for me. Am I only one who can see it? Here are another images. Iso400 is the blurry one. Haven't oranges ISO400 became magentas ISO1600?
Just to show that it is not auto WB problem, I have made also shots with custom WB, and here are results (WB set before each shot):

I do see a slight colour shift with the ISO 1600 photos. Probably wouldn't have noticed it if I didn't have something to compare it with, though. If it bothers you enough, are you able to exchange your F10 for another?
Stephanie
I can't exchange the camera. This is my second. The first had a very hot pixel (a group of 4 bright pixels). In the shop they said "you can exchange it", so I did. When I went there again with the present problem, I was told, they can't exchange again.
And now I'm unhappy, because it looks, that instead of small, barely visible, dot around center of image, I have pink pictures and most of them have to be adjusted with color cast and saturation! Individally, because I haven't found any rule except that the color shift appears.

You can try contacting Fuji directly. Maybe they can help you out.
What was the store's reason for not agreeing to do another exchange? Did they not think that your reason was legitimate? Did you print out some samples to show them the pink tint problem?
I am kind of grasping at straws here, because as I said the colour shift is so slight to my eyes; the sales people at the store may very well not see it at all.

I think, that there was a misunderstanding with the people in the shop. I was told, that I will be able to test the second camera for some days. But then came up another condition: summary time: not longer than a week. Besides the lady told me: "there is so much noise, don't make photos at ISO1600". I did't feel strong enough to continue discussion.
I also emailed some pictures to Fuji service. Their answer: "At high ISO settings and difficult light conditions color casts appear on photos and they can be corrected with photo editing software. (...!!!...) This is normal (...!?...) for cameras like F10." (!!)
Ha ha!
Sometimes I have a feeling, that I live on another planet...
I feel confused, because I really like the camera and if I had previous piece, I would be pretty happy (or better: previous camera without those white pixels ;) ).
My F10 Fuji had been at Fuji service, because there was visible magenta cast in high sensitivity photos. This week they gave me back the camera.
I took first test shots. To be sure, that white balance won't affect colours, I fixed white balance to "incandenscent".
I took First 2 photos at ISO200, as colour reference.
Then I took next 2 photos at 1600.
Then I resized images and uploaded here.
