View Full Version : Is there a way for the Fuji F30 to focus through a window or other glass?

I would like to be able to focus my F30 through window glass. The scenic setting doesn't seem to work so well although it would seem reasonable that it sets the focus at or near infinity, which would solve one problem. Anyone figured out a way?
Try to get to the glass closer than 60cm. F10 has >60cm focus range, so it should't be able fo focus on the glass. Maybe then it would focus on something else ;)

Try using "high speed" mode. It increases the focus distance of the AF sensor... might help. Also, you could try changing the focus methods to see which works better. Center, Multi, Average.

Open the window :D hehe. If possible get closer to the glass than the camera can focus on and it'll hunt longer to lock focus.

I have a dmc fz5 and focus thru the picture window regularily. I just bring the camera as close to the window as possible and then 1/2 depress the shutter till it focuses then shoot. Works fine for me and gets rid of the dirty window problem besides

The lens should be as close to the glass as possible and the glass has to be cleaned - no dirt, no fog; etc.
See my fishtank shots. Not the best shots but just to show it's possible.
