i am learning how to shoot in manual mode i would like to know if i can change the exposure in manual mode to shoot pictures at night thanks for the help everybody

All manual means is that you have to make the shutter and aperture settings manually. The camera doesn't set these except by what's on the dials. So yes, you can use it for night photography.

What camera are you using? Your camera should have a dial/buttlon you can adjust exposure, usually by +- 2-3 . I would also do a search online with guildlines for night photography. You will be amazed at how much research you will get buried in!

If you set the exposure, then you decide whether or not you want it over or under exposed. A longer exposure will give you overexposed. A shorter exposure will give you underexposed. You have to set the over/under exposure time. So the answer to your question is yes, you can underexpose or overexpose when you are using manual mode on your camera.

At the same time, you can set exposure adjustment by a certain amount, depending on your camera, in the automatic modes.
