So I decided to use Photoshop CS2's HDR (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_dynamic_range_imaging) (high dynamic range) script and my TZ1 to do some experimenting. I know the TZ1 is not ideal for HDR photos since the exposure can only change by a level of 1 in both directions but I figured I'd give it a try anyway. Below are the source pictures followed by the final result. Let me know what you think.

Now I doubt I did this correctly (it's only my first attempt) but it seems to have worked decently, preserving the details in the shadows and in the lightest areas which cannot be seen in any single regular photo. I know the TZ1 isn't ideal for HDR and I know this isn't exactly the right type of scene to try it on but, hey, not too bad.

IDK, I think the first shot looks the best...

I am impressed. I did check out the HDR link but am not too computer savy. If you have tips about finding the script and making it run on Windows XP I'd appreciate it.

Unfortunately, the script I used is only available through Photoshop CS2. It's built right into it. Other programs exist however (a large list can be found here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_dynamic_range_imaging#External_links)) and I think it's definitely worth giving a try. Here's another example:

... and the result:

The final picture is truer to the real life scene as person would see it and I think it turned out pretty nicely.

I also wanted to point out some of the cool effects one can produce with HDR photos. Below is a photo taken when it was completely dark outside. The ball of light in the sky is the moon. You only get the true effect at full size - click to enlarge:
