Howdy,
How do I burn photos to a CD in a manner that pleases what I think you might call a service bureau? I shoot a whole bunch of stuff on a Nikon D70, lightly improve whatever needs improving on PS Elements and then place each jpg photo in one folder on my desktop. I then did one of two things (I don't recall which): select the folder and click 'burn' or drag the folder into iPhoto and burn from there. It works great, however, when I mailed the cd to the service bureau, they emailed back and said my cd was not in the proper form. Said it had too many levels of folders. Said I need to send them something with one level of folders with only images in that folder. How do I do that? If I have to get a different program to do that I don't mind but I can't figure out how to do it with what I've got which is: iMac running 10.2.3, iPhoto 2, superdrive, PS Elements 2.0. Apologies for the length but you guys helped me 4 years ago and are my only hope!
Cheers,
Dee

It seems to me that only your "service bureau" can answer that question. From what they said, it sounds like you have at least 1 folder inside the folder you burned to the CD. If that is the case, do just what they ask, don't have folders inside of other folders. Take all of the photos from the sub-folders and put them in the root-folder.

On the other hand, if you have only 1 folder on your CD and only images inside that folder (which means no folders inside that folder), then they may want all of the images directly on the CD with no folders at all.

With the information you have given us, we cannot possibly answer your question.

Ray.

Hi Ray,
Thanks for taking the time. Even though I gave a lot of info I can now see why this problem looks so stupid. The iMac does not make a basic burn easy to figure out, however, if one uses iPhoto then the process is simple but it does create all kinds of other folders on the cd. I did a little digging and figured out what I think I need to do to keep it simple. And the service bureau was no help at all; they too seemed annoyed by the question.

Cheers,
Dee

Dee,

The service bureau may be working on a PC computer. Iphoto and the burn function of the OS likely burn in an incompatible format. HFS+, I think.

Try using Toast and burning the disc as a Mac/PC disc. You should have a happy service provider.

Also, I don't recommend using Iphoto as an editing program. It gobbles up hard drive space and isn't color managed as well as a program like Photoshop.

Best of luck.
