Hi,

I have recently purchased Nikon coolpix L1. I am new to digital photography. Wel, I have been happy using this, primarily because of simplicity. However, little knowladge on digital photography may not be giving the best out of it.

I am facing below issues, would appreciate if any one can help.

1. While I click on any object (Photo Frame), the result picture has kind of light spot on it...

2. On outdoor at night (with limited light) while I click any object, the result picture has very clear object but the background is almost black.

The flash mode I use is AUTO. Please guide on how to address this issues.

Cheers,

Heeemz

Try using the Night Portrait scene setting. The problem you're having is that light brightness falls off from it's source. If there is little or no ambient light on the background, the subject in the foreground will be lit by the camera's flash but the background which is further away will not receive the same amount of illumination from the flash and it will appear dark. Night Portrait scene will force the camera to use a slower shutter speed in hopes of capturing some of the existing ambient light in the background.

Two problems may occur. There still may not be enough ambient light to balance the brightness between the subject and the background and if there is you may experience camera movement which because of the slower shutter speed will appear as a blurred background. If there are any lights showing in the background and you get camera motion they will appear as bright swirly lines which could streak across your subject.
