Hi,

I am Siung from Malaysia.

My friend bought a new Nikon Coolpix and travel to Korea during winter. But after he captured his first picture, the camera is hangs and need to take back for service. Is it true that this camera is not able to capture pic in cool weather? Beside that, accroding to camera shop staff, he told me that nikon 5200 LCD is easily having problem. Is it true? Is this model made in China or ..? Because almost all this model is made in China.

Really appreciate if someone can give me some advise because I plan to buy this camera end of this year.

regards.

Define "cool weather". I don't have this specific camera, but digital cameras in general will work better in cold weather than film cameras due to fewer moving parts, with the caveat that you must make sure you have battery power.

I've taken my Olympus C-720 to -20F on several occasions while hiking and it worked just fine. I think any camera would operate down to 0F without any problems, even if the published operating temperatures only allow for 32F. I keep the camera cold, the batteries warm, and everything works fine.
