I recently acquired a Sony CyberShot DSC-T5 (used, not functioning properly, got it for free). When you power on the camera by sliding down the lens cover, the power does not stay on for more than three seconds. If you leave the lens cover up, and power on the camera using the top button, it will stay on until the battery dies. If you power on the camera using the top button, and then move the lens cover down, the power cuts off.

I am able to take pictures by applying pressure to the lens cover from the front while holding the camera. But of course this is entirely inconvenient. I disassembled the camera and checked vital connections inside, and without working under the LCD, everything seems to be mounted properly.

There probably isn't anyone here who knows about the electrical configuration of this camera, but I am throwing it out there just in case. I would like to know how the position of the lens cover affects power circuitry.

Any tips, advice, or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
