View Full Version : FZ10 or the FZ15??????
I am upgrading from a DMC LC43 and cant decide which would be better. I am looking mainly for the one that would perform the best at night and in low light indoor situations. The FZ15 seems like it has more modes than the FZ10 but I have read that the flash on the FZ10 is better than the FZ15. What would you suggest as the better camera? Thanks for all the help!!

The FZ15 seems like it has more modes than the FZ10 but I have read that the flash on the FZ10 is better than the FZ15. What would you suggest as the better camera? Thanks for all the help!!I have an FZ10, but I'm surprised at your findings. The FZ15's flash should have about twice the range of the FZ10's flash, and the FZ15 has an AF illuminator for low light shots. The FZ15 is a lot faster at auto-focusing and shutter lag than the FZ10 also. I think my coin would fall on the side of the FZ15, if I were flipping one at the moment. Its main "downside" is not having a flash shoe, and if you're going indoors with an external flash, this may sway you that way, or towards the FZ20.
Would the AF Luminator provide sufficient lighting for indoor sporting events such as wrestling? or would the external flash provide the best results? I have included a few pictures from my last wrestling event... pics were taken with my DMC LC43 all in burst mode. Ofcourse the quality of these 3 arent as good because they are resized to fit on here.

Af helps w/focus, but I think you would b too far.
This is a commercial wresling show,Yes?
What kinds of camera's are permitted. I've heard that some rock concerts permit silver camera's (since they are just point and shoot) but won't let you use a black camera. If you are permitted, I'd look for an external flash (on the F15 this would have to be a Slave unit, but they are reported to work quite well. www.imaging-recource.com actually reviewed an FZ-15, but not a 10.
Basic 1st question, what is allowed. You might find that the FZ-3 with a slave flash would be permitted whereas a larger FZ would not. Just my $0.02
Yes it is commercial wrestling ... WWE(formerly the WWF) Which you can see Monday nights on Spike TV :) I am fairly certain that any camera is allowed, I have seen people there with much bigger cameras than mine, pretty much the same as what the FZ20 looks like. Yes, I am fairly far from the ring, depending on what tickets I can get. On average, I am about 20 yards away(just a guesstimate). My previous photos should lend a better idea of distance.
To throw another wrench into my decision process, I was just offered a better paying job so now the FZ20 has become an option. Of the FZ10, FZ15 and the FZ20, what would be the best option for the wrestling events?

hello,
i have also the same problem, fz10 or fz20, although the price of the cameras here in the philippines are much expensive than in another country, will the 500$ usd difference enough for me to buy the fz10?
fz10 400$
fz20 920$

Ahhhh one of my first ever posts.... the memories  As for your question.. thats quite a price jump from the Z10 to the Z20, If the prices were a little closer I would suggest the Z20 hands down but twice as much I dont know. Are you also considering the Z15? I am not sure about shipping rates or if they even ship to where you live but maybe buying form an internet site like B&H Photo or Etronics would save you quite a bit of money. I think the Z20 is around $450 or so nowadays. Also, what are your shooting needs? Wildlife... scenic... night shots? Will you need the ability to add an external flash? This will better help you decide which camera is best for you.
