View Full Version : A lot of S2 and S3 topics around here, how about some SD pictures?

I've noticed a few topics about the S2 and S3 picture taking. I've yet to see any topic showcasing what the SD series can do (SD500, SD600, SD630, SD700, etc). I've managed to capture a few good photos with this camera. I'm really interested to see what other people have done. I'm an ameteur photographer waiting for the new generation of Rebel to get my first DSLR. So I have very limited experience and no training. Take that into consideration with the photos I post.

I'm also hoping other people post their SD pictures. If I can take some decent photos with this thing, I'd love to see what the semi proffessional crowd can do. Anyway, here are my pictures.

Thanks for the compliments guys. Also, thanks for the advice. I suppose I should crank up the Exposure a bit more. Now that you mention it, the pics I took at dusk do look a tad on the dark side.

Anyways, I'll attach a couple more pictures that I took with my SD700 IS and hopefully some other people will post a few SD pics as well.

here's a few shots from my sd700, this is my take anywhere, anytime, any occasion point and shoot camera. And for anyone looking to buy this camera, it takes some really nice pictures, although there is no actual manual control (i.e. aperture/shutter control). Hery EWalterJr, i liked the last pics you posted.

Awesome pics Kalix. It's good to see a fellow SD user taking some great pictures. I'm in California right now (on vacation), and I've managed to take some pretty good pictures out here (the mountains are beautiful). I'll post more pictures when I get back home, hopefully, Kalix and I are not the only two SD users on this forum.

Thanks, I appreciate the positive feedback. And to answer your question, I have an SD700 IS.

As far as the "clean water" is concerned, don't be fooled lol. I took that particular sunset photo on the Lakefront in New Orleans where I live. That water is unreasonably dirty and polluted. I suppose the reflection of the blueish sky made it seem a little cleaner than it actually is.

And as long as we're posting shots of backyards, I'll just add mine. It's not that great (hey, I'm just moving back into my house thanks to hurricane Katrina), but I do like the colors.

A very pretty winged beach rat. It looks very nice seeing as the sun did not really ruin the shot. by the way that bird might be purebred and not a winged beach rat at all its color looks pure but that might just be from the blasted sun.

A very beautiful man-made waterfall in Vegas. I was very impressed with some of my Vegas pictures as they were all handheld and very few of them suffered from blur.

I went out one night to my favorite Lakefront location, armed with my SD700 and a mini tripod. I wanted to get a feel for some slow shutter speed shots. This came out a little over exposed, but I like the Sepia shot.

I really appreciate all the positive comments Truflip. You're almost making an ametuer like me feel like a pro (almost lol). I'd be more than happy to post a bigger picture, but I have no idea how to go about doing it. If you'd give me some instructions as to how to do this, I'd do it.

Also, great pic Truflip. I have a little pic that I took a few hours ago at a friend's volleyball game. It's not great, but I'll post it anyway =)

hmm i just noticed ur using the attachment feature.. i think i'll be tricky to post a larger quality picture. one thing u could do is save the picture in 'web' format. it basically removes some quality so that it can save it in lower kb's. if u dont want to do that (which is better =D) u can upload it on www.imageshack.us and take the "direct link" and when u post a picture here, u see that box with a picture of a mountain and a sun? its there on ur toolbar when ur writing a message or post. click that and enter the url of the picture. thats it =) click ok and post

These two shots are the absolute best IMHO. You guys need to 1) go over to the flickr.com site, 2) sign up for a free account if you don't have one, 3) check out the B&W groups and 4) post those things there!

5) Both are winners.

Thanks for sharing.

but erm, what that light in the top right corner ? A ghost ? :D

That light? You mean the letters? I took that picture in Las Vegas. It's a man made waterfall infront of the Wynn Casino. I tried to catch a shot of the waterfall with the "Wynn" sign clearly visible. That was the best I could do because I didn't have a tripod (that picture was handheld) and I was with a group that was in a hurry to actually get in the casino. Needless to say, I was left behind several times during the trip to Las Vegas lol.

I've noticed there are virtually no color accent pictures in this entire forum. I think it's a nifty little feature to have on a camera, so I'll post a few of my color accent pictures.

This isn't a very good picture (It came out blurry for some reason), but the sky was actually purple. I thought that was strange, seeing as how I've never really seen (or noticed) a purple sky.
