I stumbled across this product and it got my curiosity running. It has an extra shutter and was made "specifically for the D50". My question is, what type of batteries does this use? I dont see any info on that anywhere. AA's, EN-EL3a? Anyone familiar with this product? is it any good?

They talk about doubling the number of shots so the logical assumption would be that it would take 2 x EN-EL3 batteries.

I have no idea how the second shutter release would work. As far as I understood things the D50 has no internal facility to control a second shutter release and the only option was a jury rigged arrangement using an infra red attachment in front of the wireless reciever.

I would be very suspect about this product until I had actually seen one working in the flesh as they say.

Yea, I figured it was 2 EN-EL3a batteries but wanted to make sure because I have seen others that are run on AA.

This is very interesting, thanks for the input K1W1, I might email Nikon and ask them about the shutter and if this will work.

it looks like this battery grip:

says it can take the en-el3s or 6 AAs.
