I am in the market for a camera and i am really looking at the Nikon D50 bc i dont want to spend too much money. I am just not sure or do not know enough about lenses. Whats the difference b/w the 18-55mm and the 28-80mm???? is the 28-55mm a wide angle? and should I buy the lens seperate or get a package deal???? I am not sure this is my first digital slr i am purchasing....Please any info would help, thank you.

Go for the 18-55 lens, the 28-80 lenses are lenses that were designed as kit lenses for 35mm film SLRs. The 18-55 indeed does give more wide angle possibilities than the 28-80mm lens.

To help your understanding of what the milimeters mean in regards to field of view, take a look here:

The kit with the D50 body and the 18-55 lens would be a good place to start.
