Flashing green light

I have an (obviously) older D-360L which has been totally reliable until now. Now, if I open the shutter, I get that little flashing green light and the camera doesn't respond. It shows good batteries (and they're new), but I can't find anything in the owner's manual that tells me what's happening. I can review existing photos on the card with the shutter closed, but that's it!

Suggestions? And no, I really can't afford to buy a new camera right now!

You should try to force a reset of the camera. The best way to do this is simply leave the batteries out for 24hrs. After that pop in a fresh set and see what happens.

Well, the old leave out the batteries is a fairly last ditch effort. One thing you don't mention is if this happens with all your SmartMedia cards, or do you only have one? It might be possible that the memory card is corrupt and causing a problem.

You don't mention your computer vintage and if you are still connecting the camera using the serial cable. If so, have you tried to get to the camera using the Olympus software on the PC?

Also, it has been a long time since I owned a D series Olympus, but I seem to recall that there might have been a firmware upgrade that was user installable. If so, you might search the web for a copy to try and load that.

Actually, the card appears to be functioning fine - I've connected to the camera and downloaded some of the pics that I hadn't before the light started its little thing. So.. card ok, communication fine.

Of course, in frustration I bought a C-7000....but I'll try to find the firmware upgrade just in case!

Hello, I was wondering if you were able to fix the flashing green light problem. My d360l just started flashing green after working fine all this time.
Any suggestions?
