Hi All

Newbie here! :)

A few times recently when I have looked at the latest picture in Review mode in the LCD of the TZ1 I have seen flashing black areas in the (extreme white) highlights during the 1 sec review. Subsequently, checking the pictures in playback mode the pictures look normal.

I have now used both options in "Reset" and, at the moment, I can't get the effect to occur. :)

I'm wondering if anyone here has come across this with the TZ1 - or any other model, as a matter of interest?

TIA

Tom

It is referred to as highlite mode...I am sure you can find it in the menu.
It indicates blown Highlites

It's a feature, not a problem. It's very useful to let you know that maybe you should back off on the EV setting and re-shoot the scene to avoid clipping the highlights. It's kind of a "poor man's histogram," but then, histograms come for free on the TZ1 too.:o

Hi John_Reed and genece.

You are quite right - and I feel quite dumb. :o

In case anyone else wants to look this up. The "Highlight" feature is exactly as you both described and appears in the Setup Menu info starting P20 in the TZ1 Operating Instructions. The refs to Highlight (HL) itself are on P23 followed by P38.

Anyway, I'm so glad there is no problem. Thanks again for your prompt help - and for not being too hard on me!.

Tom

PS I did, and do, RTFM - I had just missed this!
