View Full Version : C What Happened to My SD700 Lcd
I got this unit only last July 3. Best Buy Canada wont do anything for me because it is over 14 days. Local repair depot will replace the lcd under warranty but I still think Canon Canada should replace it.
Thge only thing that the LCD is rubbing against is the inside lining of the Canon leather case that I am using.

if that is the case it is a defect in one of both of canon's products and they should replace it. did you call them and say one of your products damaged another one of your products and is under warranty so I demand you repair or replace it?

Can i see the case? what does it use a metal button? it looks like the protective layer or coating has been rubbed off the glass. Sony uses outside glass on some of their high end cameras like that also.

This may be a problem that plagues these cameras for a long time.
It's an anti-reflective (anti-glare) coating on the LCD panel that is rubbing off. After you get the LCD replaced, the problem is going to happen again.
They make protective expendable (periodically replaceable) coverings for LCD panels but those coverings will nullify the anti-reflective benefit unless they also have an anti-reflective coating.

I had 2 sony cybershots and they both had this ugly LCD also. The S75 and the V1. They did not look that bad but if you hold it in the light just right you could see the glass had scratches in it.
The V1 i had had a cracked LCD and i had to replace it, when i took it apart, the "anti glare" coating was actualy part of the case. Inside under the case the LCD was actualy soft like the canon LCDs.
Have you tried wiping the glass with alcohol?
