can i put a a screen protector for these anti glare LCD screens? the lady at the store said I could but I want to double check because she said the protectors stick to the screen through some sort of adhesive.. so when it comes to changing the protector (when it gets old) will it stick to the screen and ruin it?

Hi truflip,

I put one of those on my LCD. I left it on for like 2 weeks, got some minor scrathces etc.. so I took it off to see how well it protected the LCD and it was fine, no residue left on the screen and no scratches, the protector worked fine. It wont work wonders, (ie. hard knocks etc..) but for minor daily use its good. So I put another one back on, and I dont plan to take it off until its really busted (I have a few spare - I got like a pack with a few in them at Compusa).

PS. Its also a good idea to cut away like a tiny bit from one of the corners so its easy getting it off when you need to, if you fit it perfectly its actually tough getting them off, so thats what I do, im talking like a milimeter or two at most just so you can have some place to peel it off from.

PPS. What I wonder is do these protectors hurt the anti-glare? I mean the LCD has an anti glare but maybe the protector itself is actually reflective and thus makes it harder to view in sunlight? I didnt have my screen unprotected long enough to test so I dont know, but I know in bright direct sunlight I have to use the quick brightness button sometimes, though I doubt thats from the protector but could be. Mine is the Fellowes LCD protectors, they come in like a pack of 12 or something and you cut them the size you want. I pretty much cut some up for all my cams. I think it said that it pretty much should ne non reflective and non-glare so I doubt it affects it adversely too much, maybe its a little more reflective than keeping the LCD bare, but id rather have it on anyways, plus it might not have any adverse issues, I cant really tell.

Been thinking about this myself actually. I know there are "premium" brands like purplemoo and such that are ex-pen-siiive (7 bucks each?!) and there are cheaper ones like from Fellows and instore brands... much cheaper. I haven't bothered to get one yet because I bought a really nice little LowePro zipper case for it and it rarely comes in contact with anything.

Anyone have any particular brands they loves/hate? You would of course want to keep the anti-glare coating properties of the LCD and you wouldn't want anything sticking to it too hard to leave residue or damage the screen... otherwise I don't know anything about particular brands.

One guy at Ritz Camera told me to use Scotch Tape... that guys scares me. heh

I don't use any protectors on the F30 -- since the screen is insetted into the camera, it is virtually impossible to get it on without bubbles and very hard to take it off afterward.

scotch tape? lol I only use that to clean dust off of my PSP screen protector and screen but that is sad that anyone would actually suggest using it as the screen cover.

$7.50 for "one piece". Seems like a lot to me.

I'm going for the no screen protector right now. I've got a nice soft carry case for it that it lives in when I'm not shooting... and when I am shooting... I've always got the wrist strap on my wrist. So I'm thinking that it's probably okay as is.

The LowePro case I got is soft plush material inside, zippered but the zippers are covered by material inside so they don't abrade the camera. There is also a retaining wall of material that expands when you unzip so that the camera can't just fall out when the case is opened. Cost me about $12. I'd say that should be the first invenstment rather than screen protector. The case fits in my cargo pants or has a little strap that velcro's open and then snaps closed for your belt and also comes with a neck strap that you can attach if you wanted to.

This one, the LowePro Rezo 30:

that purple moo looks worth the money. most of the cheaper ones stick with adhesive which MAY leave residue. this is the only one ive seen so far that is non-adhesive based. but it seems WAAAY to small.. its a one time use for an A80.. would this even have enough for an F30? I love how they write "Depending on usage, each piece can provide years of protection." that could mean, 'if u dont use ur camera ever for years, it might last that long'

anyway thats a nice little pouch. i could not find this at the local camera shop. I found the Rezo 50 but not the 30. Id have to go look at the other store locations n see what they have.
