am new to the forum. after reading all the reviews, i think i've narrowed it down to sony w50 vs canon sd600 vs fuji f30/f10. if anyone's got any thoughts, would be much much obliged. thanks so much!!!!!
i've cut and pasted my responses into a form i found on other threads.

Budget
* What budget have you allocated for buying this camera? Please be as specific as possible. around $300, less if possible, so i can save $ for memory cards.
Size
* What size camera are you looking for? Or does size not matter at all to you? small is good, the lumix dmc tz1 is probably the largest i want to go.
Features
How many megapixels will suffice for you? 5 if possible.
* What optical zoom will you need? i really don't care.
* How important is “image quality” to you? (Rate using a scale of 1-10) 10
Do you care for manual controls? not really
General Usage
* What will you generally use the camera for? 1. dinner with friends (taking picture of people at dinner/apts afterwards, pretty dishes) 2. weird rashes i see in the hospital (close ups) 3. fam vacations to national parks
* Will you be making big prints of your photos or not? well probably not for #1, but #2 and #3 would be nice if i do posters or want to hang a happy fam moment on the wall.
Will you be shooting a lot of indoor photos or low light photos? yes - and it needs to be easy. i'm forever turning my cam over to a friend to take a group shot, and i can't say, hold, lemme fix the flash setting, the iso setting, the zoom - or if so, it's gotta be really fast.
Will you be shooting sports and/or action photos? no.
Miscellaneous
Are there particular brands you like or hate? minolta - my dimage was the biggest waste ever.
Are there particular models you already have in mind?
sony- i pointed and shot, and it got my skintone right the first time in under florescent lighting at best buy. is that the lcd or the sony processor? the reviews on image quality have me worried tho.
canon- i did the same above test, the canon's flash fired and my face was totally whited out. but all my friends have canons and reviews are great. what am i missing.
fuji- the lack of a viewfinder drives me nuts. last fam vaca, our friend's panasonic didnt have a viewfinder and the sun wiped out his lcd. of course, again, when you're trying to get everyone together for a group shot, who has time to scroll through the 2-3 buttons to adjust the lcd? but the reviews seem glowing, esp w/my need to take pics at dinner. ps. is it worth getting the f10 to save $, given my needs as described?
(If applicable) Do you need any of the following special features? (Wide Angle, Image Stabilization, Weatherproof, Hotshoe, Rotating LCD) i dont' care about lcd size. really. image stablization - does that help strangers (who sometimes wobble) take better shots for me?
