Have a Panasonic DMC-FZ30. Moved pictures to computer, then deleted from SD card in camera. Is there a way to put pictures back on the SD card in the camera?

No you can put the pictures back on the card with a card reader...but the camera will not recognize them....
If you do not have a card reader , it should be your next purchase.
A 5 dollar one works fine.

If the camera won't recognize them, why bother putting them back on it?

Well I did say no ,but if you wanted to transfer them to another computer or storage device or take them to wally world to get printed.
Somehow the file name changes ...maybe if you could restore the original name the camera could recognize them.
Everything else seems to recognize them.

Wait, I don't see why that wouldn't work. In the TZ1's manual somewhere it said the camera will display pictures from most cameras if they are present on the card inside. Give it a try - I don't see why it wouldn't work... the files, if left unchanged, should be identical...

I'm certain I have done that on my Canon (A75) and pretty sure I have done it with the TZ1.
As I recall the pictures have to be put back in the same folder they came from, and have to be unchanged photos made by the same brand of camera - probably the same model.
If you don't intend to view the pictures on the LCD but just transport them somewhere, make a 'misc' folder and put them in there for the journey. This will work for any picture, document, or whatever will fit on the card. The camera will ignore these.

The tizzy may do that as may other cameras but I am pretty sure I remember others trying to do that with the FZ10 and 20 with no sucess.....but perhaps there is a way to do that......but to use the camera for a storage or viewing device does not appeal to me.
I also never saw the value to one of these but perhaps you may want to consider one.

As long as you duplicate the file stucture that the camera creates when taking pictures, you'll have no problem. I have no idea what it is for that camera, but looking at the memory card via a card reader should tell you what you need to know.

The file structure in a FZ-30
Parent folders DCIM and MISC
Folder in DCIM is 101_PANA or in computer terms DCIM\101_PANA
If pics are placed in this folder (101_PANA) then the camera will find them provided the names haven't been changed. Even if you restore the origional file name the camera will not recognise/display the pic in my FZ-30.
However a pic from a Minolta Z3 with a filename of PICT1489.JPG will display but an origional file from the FZ-30 that was renamed after PP and then renamed back to it's origional name of P1020922.jpg will only display a blank space where the pic would normally be displayed. Must retain a placeholder but not the correct information for it to be displayed.
Ok, so now for a test run. I copied a pic from my mobile phone onto the SD card and put it back in the camera and it displayed correctly.
So I have unchanged pics from a Minolta Z3, an Ericsson K600i mobile phone and FZ-30 origional pics and they all display correctly.
From somewhere in my travels I remember reading that there is a difference in file bitrates or formats or something when comparing a saved file in a computer and a camera. Don't quote me on this tho as that may not be technically correct.
