After taking shots using the above camera indoors with lights on I find that the prints have a very orange tinge about them. Would setting the flash to slow synchro help at all. If not has anyone any advice?

You might try setting the white balance to incandescent. The flash is usually daylight balanced, so using slow synchro would give a very weird effect, with the flash illuminated parts being blue and the background yellow.
