Practically any camera shop or electrical retailer.

If you can't find one made especially made for a camera with a 3in screen then buy one for a PDA and cut it down to size.

You can also buy a Delkin lens shade that has a clear screen that fits over the H5's lcd.

the problem with the H5 screen is that only the viewing area of the screen is 3inchs. If you want a screen protector that covers the entire screen, your gonna have to look for a precut made especially for the H5, or else cut your own.

I was able to find a precut in asia.

If you use the Delkin shade then I suggest you pop out the clear screen it has as the "plastic" it uses is very shiny and useless in sunlight.

That still leaves the "frame" of the shade and the cover to protect the lcd surface.

You could also use a standard thin film protector to cover the centre of the lcd as a backup.

Okay, I guess I am confused. I went to camera stores and the only thing I found was non-reusable adhesive clear "stickers" that go over the screen. I was thinking of something that I could use permanently to protect the screen from scratches, breaking, etc.

Does the Delkin fit that bill? Its hard for me to tell from the description.

Thanks!

Do you own an H5?
Can you tell me if you have really loud noticeable lens noise in your recorded movies? THANKS!

Hi,

Yes, I do own an H5, I dont use it for movies, so I cant answer your questions. However, I think I have seen a separate thread entitled something like "H5 makes a racket", so I think this is probably true.

non-reusable adhesive clear "stickers"

That is the standard method for protecting LCDs.

Each "sticker" can last 6months + depending on usage before they peel at the edges and are designed to protect the lcd from minor wear and tear that would normally scratch it.

This is the delkin shade I bought for my H1 before I have peeled all the protecting films of it.

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b255/Sintares/delkin.gif

As you can see it comes in two pieces, the shade itself which clips to the "frame" which itself has a rigid clear "plastic" centre that is unfortunately quite shiny and reflects bright light so I will pop it off the frame when it is attached to the H1.

My plan is to crop a standard 2.5in lcd protector to just cover the actual screen (normally it would also cover to the edge of the black border around the H1 screen), then fit the delkin shade (with clear plastic removed) over that so the delkin "frame" sticks directly to the surface of the camera screen.

That way, I get the lcd protector covering the viewable part of the lcd , and its protected from peeling at the edges by the frame of the of the delkin.

The frame is around 1/16 of an inch thick, while the shade itself is around 3/16 of an inch thick.

So while the shade is closed it totally protects the lcd from impacts or scratchs and even when open (or detached from the frame) the frame itself helps to stop anything lying on the lcd and the clear film protector prevents any thing else from scratching the screen.

The other idea for the H5 is to order a custom 'da Protector, which is 1/16in clear scratch resistant acrylic.

The H5 is not I think a current camera they support with standard (pre cut) protectors however they will custom cut one at the size you want up to 3x4 inches..

the sticker is the only way.. it's a widely used method as previous stated.
just get a few of them for backup.
