View Full Version : Nikon D70s Vertical Battery Grip
WHY DOES NIKON NOT MAKE ONE? ive had a nikon D70s for about 1 year now and ive been looking for a grip that isnt crap but its impossible to find one. i have to clue why Nikon does not make one for the D70s. I take pictures of skateboarding and a vertical grip would be very helpful to me. at this point im thinking of just buying a D2HS or a D200 (Nikon makes a grip for that one). if anyone knows the answer to this or knows of any good quality grips for the nikon D70s please let me know before i take a big chunk out of my savings account and buy a D2HS!!!!

Thats Nikons sneaky lil plot:D
Seriously though, I cant help you. Hopefully someone else can.
The answer is simple and obvious. Nikon do not consider that the D70 and D50 series cameras are targeted at users who will want a vertical grip whereas the D200 and up models have a much higher proportion of vertical grip ownership.
The camera may not meet your specific requirements but the percentage of owners of these who would want the vertical grip would be minute (I'd say a fraction of one percent would be the sort of number that would be expected).
The question you YELL (which by the way should have a ? after it not a !) is similar to somebody going on to a Ferrari forum and asking "Why do Ferrari not make people movers?" simply because they were the one potential Ferrari owner who would actually buy such a thing.

Info
"I just got the Harbortronics VG-D70 Battery Grip and it is a really nice unit. I sorely missed my D100 and battery grip, especially when using long zooms or the SB600 flash. The only negative thing I can say about it is that you have to remove it from the camera to change batteries, but it can be done fairly quickly. Of course it can hold two Li-ion battery packs so it can go a good long time between battery swaps
Besides making the D70 a lot easier to hold, it adds a vertical shutter release that is triggered using the camera's infrared port. Harbortronics also offers a camera body mod to allow a jumper cable (wired) to directly operate the shutter as well.
All in all, this is a nice little $165 accessory to complete your D70 system.
The folks at Harbortronics are also going to make this grip for the new D70s and it will plug right into the camera's remote port"
This may help from another other than I
......The question you YELL (which by the way should have a ? after it not a !).....
Ahh yes, thats what we are here for, grammatical correction.
Thanks for the help ill look into that. And thanks for the grammar suggestions...
I did happend to find a friend who just bought a D200 and just doesnt like it (I just dont understand how but still) and hes gonna sell me the body and a Nikkor 18-70mm lens for about 2 grand. I feel thats a pretty good deal considering the body is in perfect condition.
Oh and thanks K1W1 i changed that ! to a ? hope your happy with that:confused:

Not a wise idea, comming on this forum as a noob and getting lippy with senior members!
While I agree with you Chris, it was also uncalled for for that "senior member" to critisize the "noobs" grammatical error. This forum is here to help people with photography questions. It doesnt look good on the forum or the members for people to be critisizing new members for grammar. Its not important and to me, seems to be inappropriate. In my eyes, it gives new members the wrong impression and may scare them off from posting questions here again. We all have the same rights to this forum whether it be a senior member or a newbie. Now I hope we can get back to what this forum is for, informative photography discussions. Lets leave the grammar correcting to the grammar sites(if they exist, lol)
