A re-post from my first post ever. I got zero replies. Hard for me to believe that out of all the camera guys, no one has ever had a camera flash go bad on them.

Glad to find this site, now, on to my first post ever!! (this is my second!)

I've had my Fuji camera for about a year and a half, everything has worked great. No complaints on the camera at all. But just the other day I was taking some photos inside the house, popped the flash up and nothing. I checked again in a really dark place, and again, no flash. I looked in the view finder and when it's dark and I have the flash up, I get the !AF in it. The flash charge light on the back is green, so it's charged, the batteries are fresh, so it's not that. Could the flash bulb in it be burned out? What else could it be? I haven't changed any settings on it, and I'm pretty good with cameras, so I know that I didn't change anything by accident.

Any help is appreciated.

Now, I've tried everything, checked over the manual. I have done nothing, the flash just doesn't work. The camera works just fine otherwise. Any help?

Ok. It seems like you've diagnosed the problem - it's a broken flash. What else can we say other than you have the following options:
1. Warranty repair.
2. Pay somebody to repair it (not worthwhile as it'd cost more than a new camera)
3. Bin it and buy a new camera.
4. Keep on using it for daylight shots and remember that the flash doesn't work.

Its a shame that factory repairs are so expensive. At least the camera sounds like its working for daylight shots.
Thats why it would be nice to have an external hot shoe for flash..
