Hi,
I have a brand new DSC H5 that has a clearly audible noise (of the lens moving in and out) in movie mode on playback. Please tell me this is a defect and not something that everyone just accepts. My other Sony cameras had no such noise. I have it set on MAF and steady shot is at shooting (not continuous).
I checked Sonys site but nothing on troubleshooting for this problem. Any feedback/suggestions would be most appreciated.

Are there ANY owners here of a DSC H5 that can watch my recorded video & tell me if their camera sounds like this? Here is the link on Live Digital:

I would really appreciate your feedback. Thanks!

Hello Macfuzz. I also have a new sony dsc-h5. I saw your video and tried out mine to see if the noise was normal. I also heard exactly the same noise as you did in your video. The problem is that the H5's optical zoom works too quikly, so even if it slows down a bit in video mode, the noise is still very loud. This problem cannot be resolved in the settings menu. I recomend that you try to shoot your videos in exterior spaces so that the sound of the zoom doesn't become so evident. I hope this information is useful for you.
