When shooting at 640x480 or 1024x768..it seems like ANY setting but HUGE, I get what I'm calling compression lines ruining otherwise great photos.
Like the house shingles and siding horizontal lines in this picture being all zigszagged:

Even yesterday when I'm in a small town taking a pic of a plaque the same thing happens. I'm only 15' away from the plaque, and the lettering on it isn't 'small' but the lettering comes out blurred. Two plaques came out the same way now that I think about it.
My Sony camcorder takes 640x480 stills w/o compression lines or whatever's going on.. What IS going on?
I've tried different quality settings on my SP-310, but that doesn't help either.
So far in a few days of owning it and trying it out, the only thing I can see is that the bigger the pic, the better, but then I can't reduce it down to a useable size.
SOS please. I just don't get it :(
The owner disc manual isn't giving me any clues either...
