I'm looking with interest at the S3 Pro, thinking still about selling my Canon kit to get an S3 Pro.
How well does it focus in low light? What percentage of shots will be out of focus? How long do the batteries last? How much of an advantage is the fact that it uses 4xAA batteries?

Ask Rhys, Rhys. He thinks AA batteries are the best thing since sliced bread. And you will love the big file sizes, since you already grumble about the XT's smaller file sizes hogging too much room. And you will love the fact that it is a lot more bulky and heavy, since you at times leave the XT at home and decided against the D70 back when you chose the XT because the D70 was too heavy and bulky.
And you will love its cumbersome and outdated body and its slower performance too.
What you do not care about maybe is its dynamic range, which makes it special. But since you will not read this, I guess this will be another pointless thread...

THe s3 pro is a camera best used for studio work as it isnt very fast, the great dynamic range of the Super CCD sensor has been one of the key points for portraits photographers... but it is a slow camera
If you want to run your Canon digital SLR camera with AA's batteries, grab the vertical grip for your camera, they work with 2 batteries of the camera batteries or with 6 AA's battery (via an adapter that is included) this works as a portait grip (giving you a shutter release button and controls in vertical orientation) and extended life power (double of the photos you take with one battery)
IMHO don't ditch your investment!!!
You have the option for 150 bucks to get the battery grip. :D
Since I dont know wich model is your camera I am posting various vertical grips for different canon digital SLR's Cameras:
For the Canon EOS 5D: Canon BG-E4
For the Canon EOS Rebel XT (EOS 350D) : Canon BG-E3
For the Canon EOS 20D or EOS 30D: Canon BG-E2
For the Canon EOS Digital Rebel (EOS 300D): Canon BG-E1
hope it helps you out
