Umm, well where do you live ?

American prices are going to be in general a lot cheaper than in Europe ...

Assuming you are in America ..

Buy a 1gb card, good names are Olympus and Fuji (they developed the card after all..) , Sandisk or Lexar.

Prices (in America) um, around $40-$60

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/ have a 1gb Olympus type H (hi speed) for $45

Depends where you are...

I live near a Fry's http://www.outpost.com and I got my Olympus brand type H 1GB card for $35 on one of their sales. Works great, no problems at all. The bad thing about xD is since it's not as open of an architechture you won't get so many cheap brands but that's also good because if you get one it's most likely going to be a name brand that you can trust and you won't be surprised by some cheapo crappy one that will die or get corrupted.

Check out http://www.newegg.com and http://www.tigerdirect.com for general purpose companies to buy from. If you have a fry's nearby or someplace that they'll ship to, they often have very good but limited time specials (like the one that I got).

Hi, I'm a new member too, now living in Japan.

Although you say you don't need large images, in my experience, I don't have viewcam, so sometimes I need my camera to take videos. So, I think nowadays large memory is necessary. I went travelling for 1 or 2 weeks, so at that time I really needed large memory. I have a 1 GB memory.
