Since Jeff's on vacation, I guess I'll report on these 2 new cameras.

Fuji Announces 2 New Cameras

Fuji announced two digital cameras today. The first one, the FinePix F20, is the little brother of the wildly popular F30.

In summary, it is a slightly pruned down version of the F30 which drops the screen resolution by half, is lighter and smaller, only goes up to ISO 2000, and has worse battery life.

Here are the specs on this model:

Fuji F30
6.3 Megapixel SuperCCD HR sensor (same as F30)
F2.8-5.0, 3X optical zoom lens, equivalent to 36 - 128 mm
Can shoot full resolution as high as ISO 2000
2.5" LCD display with anti-glare/low reflection coating (only 153k pixels)
Full manual controls (at last!)
AF-assist lamp
Picture Stabilization and Natural Light modes; a special mode will take a shot with natural light mode and then another with the flash
New i-Flash system adjusts flash’s intensity based on subject position in the frame, subject size, ambient light and backlight intensity
Records movies at 640 x 480 (30 fps) with sound
Uses the NP-70 li-ion battery; 300 shots per charge
USB 2.0 High Speed support
Ships in August for $299The second model sounds very interesting on paper. It's an update to to their midrange 5XXX series ultrazoom with the same sensor as the F20/F30 and has the unique ability to detect and recognize faces.

Those two cameras are each interesting, in their own way. Thanks for publishing the info!
