Hi everyone.

I have a Canon Powershot S500 camera. I currently use an old 512Mb Lexar CF card (not sure what speed, but I would suspect 1x or 2x). I am considering upgrading my card. Everyone rates their cards at different speed (50x, 40x, 80x, whatever). Will I really notice any performance difference? Here's what I'm considering:

Lexar 80x card
Kingmax 40x card
Transcend 120x card

I am sometimes frustrated with the write speed with my camera. I'd like to be able to snap a shot, and then immediately snap another (bursts). If anyone can give me some suggestions, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Your memory card is likely not the cause of slowdowns, it's your camera. You might get some improvement from a slightly faster card, but that camera won't be able to take advantage of a high speed card. It can't write fast enough to tax the memory card.

Check out your manual for burst or continuous shooting mode. There may be some things you can do with the camera to help out. But a current camera will be much faster that the S500.
