I keep seeing these on Ebay and they don't seem to be going for about a thousand bucks. This is roughly comparable to a new consumer DSLR, but my feeling is that they will probably produce a superior image, even though they are three or four years old. Any comments from anyone who has used one?

I haven't, but my brother has & didn't like it. I don't remember the exact reason, seems like he couldn't get good skin tones out of it. Anyway, he sold it right after they announced they were discontinuing it and got a 20D and then a 5D.

Kodak got out of DSLRs a few years ago because they couldn't compete. Their product was good but nobody wanted full frame back then. Now people do.

I'd suggest that good equivalents would be the Nikon D200 , the Canon D5 or 30D
