I just bought the F30, and i LOVE this camera! The picture quality is excellent. However, as i was connecting the USB cable, it barely touched the back of the camera with the metal plug in, and it left a scratch. I also noticed another scratch on the top of the camera. Does anyone else think that this camera scratched easier than other cameras (i come from a history of canon elph series cameras)...Also, what about the LCD...is it tough?

I just got my cam today too and I love it as-well. I dont know about the LCD, though im not gonna test it and find out :-)

Id order a lcd screen protector since it doesnt have an OVF and if you mess your screen up too much (i guess a couple straches wont matter) it wont be very good IMO. Better to keep it clean, you can get screen protectors in almost every chain store, or check out www.purplemoo.com

they have one for the f30, its $7.50, and it preserves the anti-glare coating (apprantly) and works well according to some users at dpreview. So I ordered one and will put it on. You can take it off if you dont like it and reapply too apparantly. I would probably recommend getting a protector since thats all youve got on this cam.

btw...about the scratches...i was actually referring to the metal body, not the screen

as a side note, i have been giving my F10 very heavy usage for a year (never use the case) and there's not a single scratch on the LCD and only very minor ones on the metal body. i'm more than impressed with its tough build. i hope the F30 is of similar quality. i'm sure it will be...

It is good build quality, but one advatage the F10 has is that it has a thick and protected LCD, the F30 does not have a protective coating (though it has an anti-glare coating which may be the reason that the protective one isnt there - speculation of course) so it is probably prone more to scratches.

I dropped my F30 on concrete floor -- twice. Once in a Lowepro case, once with it opened. The F30 disfigures VERY easily.
