Hi i wanted to know your opinion on this lens, this lens fits my budget (poor photographer lol) I wanted to know if someone has experience with it and if it is good for the bucks you pay (I cant ask pro grade quality ;) in a 120 bucks lens) If you know another zoom telephoto lens that is in the same league of price of this one please post the name and your thougts on that one too :D

thanks

Don't know about the Tamron but I have the Sigma equivalent (70-300 APO DG) and it's great value for money. How much is the Sigma in relation to the Tamron where you live?

A friend of mine is coming from USA in the holidays, so I will ask him to buy it there and bring it here :)

I couldn't find the Sigma or the Nikkor ED version, so I started looking at the Tamron and bought one. It's well built and does a very nice job. It's no speed demon at gathering light, but for an outdoor lens, it does very well. I've not had it hunt on any of my shots and focus speed is reasonably good. I can't say whether it's better or worse than the others, but it's certainly more available.

Many stores carry Tamron, few seem to carry Sigma (Wolf being the distinct exception), and nobody seems to have a Nikkor 70-300 in any configuration, not just the ED. If you really want the Sigma and you don't have Wolf nearby, you may have to go online.

I got this lens half price when I bought my SLR. Not used it yet, just using the excellent kit lens.

I too am a poor photographer.

I recently purchase a D50 kit. It came with the lens you are talking about and one other lens.

I love the Tamaron 70-300 macro. It works great. I have not used any other lenses other than the two that came with my camera, but I enjoy the lens. I especially love the macro. It focuses in pretty good.
