hi
I use a DSC - H1 camera . when I take photos by increasing the shutter speed and aperture value in manual mode , the picture looks so dark. i does this kind of setting for taking the photo of a fast moving object ( say something like ceiling fan)
Could anyone recomend me what setting i should go for when i want to take a fast moving object
regards
Mathew
What shutter speed and aperture values are you using?
When you say you increase aperture, you mean the actual aperture, or increase the aperture value? If you are using a fast shutter speed, you want hte aperture to have a small numeric value, that way you will get more light into the sensor. And vice versa.
Someone correct me if Im wrong, because I am pretty new at this also.

MathewYou will find, using shutter priority, that if you change from 1/250 to 1/500, your aperture value will automatically adjust to a wider-open value, in this case, say it was at f5.6, it would increase to f4.0, a single f-stop. You might want to try shooting in shutter priority to get the effect you want without having to set the aperture yourself, as you would in manual mode.

You'll find if you do a lot of sports photography that there's only so far you can push the shutter speed, especially for indoor sports or night-time activities, before your camera can't take in enough light to get a good exposure. This is limited by ISO limits, lens speed (max aperture at full zoom), mainly. At night, or indoors, this shutterspeed is somewhere around 1/100 to 1/200 of a second. If you need sharp results at faster shutterspeeds, maybe you need a dSLR camera.:o
