I have been informed by two camera retailers that the Panasonic FZ30f has been discontinued. Does anyone know when its successor will become available? If it has all the features of the FZ30 and an improved sensor and faster connectivity, it should be a fantastic camera. I queried Panasonic e-mail site and was unable to send them a message. If it will be available soon, I am willing to wait. If not, I will explore the other excellant ultrazoom cameras. Since the other FZ cameras are still available, I am curious as to why the FZ 30 is being discontinued.
Thanks

nothing concrete. Yes, the FZ30 has apparently been discontinued and the major online vendors (B&H, etc) have indicated that once their limited supplies are exhausted, no more deliveries will be forthcoming from Pany.

Most pundits speculate that the next Pany FZ model, if its forthcoming, may be announced around 21 July as that is the historical dates others have been announced.

Keep in mind that Pany has just announced their first dSLR and marketing would not leak any other model, or even a hint of one, to distract from the L1's introduction and buzz.

There have been a few that have said they've heard, 2nd and 3rd hand, of a possible FZ50 or such but no one has any idea of whether it has any substance. So, if you're in the market for a stabilized, fixed lens super zoom, either start taking photos now w/a FZ30 or wait a couple of weeks to see if there's any announcement or official 'leak' of the FZ30 successor...

Thanks for your prompt response, Telecorder. I think I will wait for the new FZ.
