OKay simply put I am a computer expert but a photo novice. I take photos from time to time but not that often. I only have 2 types of situations that I take photos; close up of butterflies and plants and fast action shots of animals in zoos jumping in midair.

my expectations are low and I never seem to notice problems in picture like other peopl do and maybe that is because my vision is so bad :)

okay on to the questionaire.

Budget

* What budget have you allocated for buying this camera? Please be as specific as possible.

I am looking at less than $250 but I would be happier with than being closer to $200 unless I will be losing out on a big feature.

Size

* What size camera are you looking for? Or does size not matter at all to you?

size does not matter

Features

How many megapixels will suffice for you?

anything over 3 MP

* What optical zoom will you need? (None, Standard = 3x-4x, Ultrazoom = 10x-12x, Other - Specify)

standard zoom for me

* How important is “image quality” to you? (Rate using a scale of 1-10)

image quality =5

Do you care for manual controls?

only neeed limited control as I do not expect to put that much effort into it.

General Usage

* What will you generally use the camera for?

only two types of shots 1) close up of plants and butterflies on plants i.e. stills and 2) catching animals in the zoo jump up and taking the photos of them in midair with a minium of blur.

* Will you be making big prints of your photos or not?

no

Will you be shooting a lot of indoor photos or low light photos?

could happen quite a bit

Will you be shooting sports and/or action photos?

only of animals in zoo so I do not need a high level of detail just not a lot of blur.

Miscellaneous

Are there particular brands you like or hate?

I REALLY loke SONY and I am not sure about any other brands.

Are there particular models you already have in mind?

Yes. I was looking at the DSC-S600 and the DSC-W50.

(If applicable) Do you need any of the following special features? (Wide Angle, Image Stabilization, Weatherproof, Hotshoe, Rotating LCD)

No

I am looking to buy rather soon and I would like the suggestions to be mostly Sony but if you think you have a awesome recomendation then please post as I want to buy in the next 30 days!

Thank You!

Elias

Yes. I was looking at the DSC-S600 and the DSC-W50.
Yes those are the two Sony options in that price range. The S500 is coming in early Aug. Consider the Canon A530 and A610, also
