I work at Ritz Camera and in about a month I am betting on a price cut from Nikon on the D200 of about $100-$200 for Ritz Associates and if im lucky they might drop the market price or put out a rebate ( but i doubt a rebate)

Im pretty sure in a few months the D70s and or the D50 are going to be replaced.

the D200 was released in Dec. of 2005 and replaced the D100 which was release 46 months previously

When do you think the D200 will be replace?

Interesting read here (http://www.bythom.com/roadmap.htm)

Guessing is one of those things that really annoys me about BBC news reports. Let's not try to guess when things will happen. They'll happen when they happen. There's no timetable.

Based on the D100-D200 gap, I'd say you'll get your D300 sometime in the year 2025. :D

i do think that the market is alot more competitve than the time of D100 and intro of D200 as of now the market has

-cannon has a full frame digital camera
-sony now has annouced their version
-other are buying into the market
-a vastly larger market for Dslr's with more profits than any year before by a long shot

I bet you see an updated version of the D200 (D200s) sometime in 2008. The D300 or whatever they choose to call it will likely be a 2009 or early 2010 release.

And considering the body has been out a scant 7 months, I doubt we'll see any price drops. Perhaps for Christmas, but I doubt it.

I bet the D70 replacement is out for the fall. The 70s seems to be in short supply from Nikon Canada, and I am not going to order more after the end of July (I am the camera guy at the electronics store I work at) so we dont get stuck with them if there is an announcement in August.
