OK going to the game tonight I just purchased my camera so I defiantly a beginner. It will be a baseball game (RED SOX) I will be very close to the field 1st base line I have a D50 w/ 18-55 lens and help or setting that I can try to get some good pix would be welcomed.

With any lens, you need high shutter speeds, especially for baseball. Depending on the light, ISO will vary. I can't say you'll get the best photos with your lens. You need something like 300mm to get good pics.
I see the need for bigger lens when taking pix at sporting events, I also still trying to figure the camera out. My only saving grace was that we had great seats

This last one I took in Raw +Jpeg it came out dark not sure why yet, but I lightend it up some and it looks nice but pratice pratice pratice.

Those are some great seats. The pics are good, but they could use a longer lens,
