How is the D50 for going thru the airport scanner? I always carry on a camera, but wonder if there is anything I need to do like take out the memory chip or something for hand scan?

No, there's nothing in the x-ray machine that can hurt your camera or memory.

Try to avoid the magnetic flux from the belt motor though.

how is it possible to know where the motor is mounted in there? what's it going to affect if it gets close to that?

The motor is usually right at the end of the belt - at the non-secure end.

what' s going to be the most hurt by it? and in what way? I can pull the memory chip and battery before and have them hand scanned. Will that do it?

better yet, why don't you strap it to your neck and have them hand scan all of it? if my camera were ever to "accidentaly" get messed up because of some magnetic flux, all hell will break loose when i pass through those gates :D

hmm I thought ALL electronic devices had to be removed and go through the belt scanner? I put my play station portable in the scanner it uses memory stick pro duo's and it was not hurt at all I doubt SD or CF cards or any others are likely to be hurt by the motor or anything though.
