hi im new to the form but im pretty sure im in the right spot, let me tell ya what im lookin for and see if you guys can help me out...

most important i want a tough durable pocket sized digital camera.
price- the cheaper the better but id like to stay under 350-400 dollars.

megipixels im not too sure, i will not be printing many picutes or blowing up the size of the images, just want normal sized pics to share on the net and to email friends and family.

will be taking pictures from low light areas such as bars, clubs, ect..and i want high quality photos....

i want a good sized viewable screen to determine if picture is acceptable or needs to be deleted....

a few options i would like are a good zoom, and maybe date stamping or whatever its called where it give the time n date on the picture, a good flash of course since it will be used in darker areas at times.

options i dont need are video/audio recording, docking station compatable, really wont be taking multiple shots together so if its a lil slow thats ok as long as it gets the pic that im tryin to take....

thats about all i can think of right now i hope im not leaving out of the importaqnt things, also any suggestions on where to purchase would help too, online buying is fine with me, just looking for the best bang for my buck...

thanx for any help that you all may give me ill be checkin back for the next few days and replying to any questions,

For low light, have a look at the Fuji range. The new F30 seems to be getting some good reviews, apart from some possible purple fringing issues on high contrast edges.

All cameras record the date & time of the photo, and a lot more, in a header block of the .jpeg picture file called the EXIF data, so impinting the date/time in the image usually just spoils the picture. Most cameras will do it in picture if you really want. There are programs that will extract it from the EXIF and add it too the image later if you must.

If you look at the questionaire in the sticky post at the top of the forum, and post your answers to the questions, it'll be easier for people to help you.

thanx guys for the replies, after reading jeffs reviews i went with the fuji f30, purchased it online for 314, but i was so excited i payed the extra 26 dollars for express deliever, and also purchased a 1mb card for it which was like 66 dollars, so i stayed around 400 dollars like i wanted, hopefully the camera lives up to the reviews, im sure it will, read a few reviews that gave nothing but praise on this camera, so im not too worried... once again thanx alot guys, ill post my oppinion once i get the camera and check it out... take care:)
