When is the Pentax K100 coming out? I've heard it was supposed to come out this month. Anyone know definite dates?

Please let me know where the k100d is available. I called Henry's today (July 22nd - GTA) and the sales rep. told me that it will be available in two to three weeks. Your answer would be greatly appreciated.
Also, would any one of you recommend the Sigma 18-125 lens instead of the kit lens?

K100D will be available in Australia this week.. got mine on order (reserved)..

As for the 18-125, it is a better range than the kit lens but not as good colour... I also went through two of them and they both had backfocus issues when at the wider end and wide open (common for Sigma zooms IME though)...

Hi Jeisner

Thank you for your reply. I am moving up from P&S Fuji S5000 and I will greatly miss the 10x optical zoom. So you can consider me as a newbie. The offers out there started to confuse me as I am looking through the different options. Lens changes also bother me. The only clear issue right now is, that I want to Pentax K100d. I am not concerned with having “only” 6MP on hand and I like the in camera IS.
I am considering the kit lens, but only because of future resale value and because it is only $100.00 if it bought as a kit lens.
I am looking for a longer zoom lens. So, the options are.
Sigma 18-125
Sigma 18-200
Sigma 17-70 combined with Sigma 70-300 APO
Your help, as well as anybodies help would be appreciated.

Would you please elaborate on what is a backfocus issue?

I love your gallery jeisner!

I just picked up my K100d today, loving the SR ;-)

OK, on to the question in the post above I would get the 17-70.. certainly the best quality lens out of those three, followed by the 18-125 then the 18-200.. The 70-200 APO is a great buy for the price too, just make sure you get the APO version, I believe there is also a DG APO version too..
