Wow, I'm quite impressed with the design of their NV line of cameras. Certainly a big jump from their usual style of digicams. The NV7 is looking especially attractive resembling the profile of the Lieca DigiLux2/Pana LC1.

Although a mechanically link zoom would have been nice. I hope this is a new step for Samsung in terms of reputation in the image quality area.

For those of you who own Samsung's current line of cameras, how is the image quality?

does the slim-line 3x Zoom version really have 720x480 video?

i ask because it sounds like a great feature, but while the blurb says 720 the spec sheet says 640......................?

and if yes; at what fps does it record 720 at?

I am especially interested in the NV-7 OPS which seems to be a rather fully featured camera, at least be looking at the specifications. The is certainly a forward thinking step for samsung, it will be interesting to see what comes of the professional reviews

The NV7, unfortunately, uses a 1/2.5" type CCD which I think is the same as the one used all over in the A710, Sd 800 IS and the like. It's not a bad sensor, but it's still not a 1/1.8" type CCD which I believe the NV10 has (as well as the A630/A640/G7).

I'm still rather interested in seeing how the unique user interface works out. Nobody's reported on that part yet.

Jeff already reviewed the camera a few weeks ago. Check his review out.

how can it be that their 'bargain' NV3 does wide images and videos, yet the NV7 and 10 do not? That's a significant change between models with no possible logic - - a 10Mpxl system can't do that? Could be a firmware adjustment, I suppose, but it seems like a missed opportunity.

I recently watched while the L70 (and perhaps even an L80?) disappeared from the Samsumg website - the new models look good and my tests were nice, but clearly some chaos is going on at Samsung.

I went ahead and purchased a Samsung NV-7 OPS camera at Circuit City. Here is a look at the first photo, just resized only, directly from the camera.
