I currently have a 35mm Minolta camera with a couple of great telescopic lenses on them. This has been a good camera for sporting events and long-range shots. I also have a Canon Powershot E130...it sucks. It takes about a minute between pictures to take and the first picture I take takes about 20 seconds after you hold down the button to actually take the picture. Therefore, I am in the market for a good digital camera.

Here are my requirements and I hope the experts here can give me some good advice. First of all, since I spent a lot of money on those telescopic lenses, I was wondering if I could use those lenses on a Minolta digital camera?

As far as my requirements for the new digital camera, I want to spend between $600-900 and I want at least 12 X (the bigger the better). I want at least 8.0 MP and I want a quick shutter and lots of memory. Any suggestions?

You do not seem to know much about digital cameras, and your requirements seem to be chosen pretty much without a reason. First, drop the 8mp requirement. It has no use, and the more pixels on a small sensor, the worse the image quality. Second, cameras come with memory cards, you can buy as much memory as you need.

Consider the 6mp Canon S3 IS or Sony H2, or the 7mp Sony H5.
If your Minolta lenses are not very old, then they probably will work on the new Sony DSLR and the KM 5D/7D. 3rd party lenses of more than a few years old may give compatibility problems.
