Hi, I seem to have become the professional photographer for a riding school, but am having difficulty taking shots in low light in an indoor school without flash. Still's okay (but not when a horse shakes it head!), but jumping shots are out completely.

Am considering moving up to a digital SLR - what do I need to look for to be able to take action shots in low light?

Appreciate this is a very amateur question, but some help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Trish

What you need to look for is high ISO low noise performance. The Canon EOS 20D and 30D are very good in this respect. Also, you will need a lens that has a large max. aperture. For instance a 70-200mm f2.8 zoom lens, or a 85mm f1.8 single focal point lens. Or the 100mm f2.

I do not know how much tele reach you will need...
