View Full Version : TZ1 settings for low light
Hello all
I just got myself a black TZ1. Really impressed with the size and 10x zoom.
However, I am facing problems taking pics indoors with flash under tube light. I have tried using the simple mode / normal mode but most of the pics are either too noisy or dark. Can anyone suggest what settings should I use?
Also, I would like to know what scene mode should I use for indoor stage performances and best software to clean and post process the images.
Thanks
Mike

I think if you force the flash OFF, or use "Slow Curtain" flash, you'll get around the default shutter speed of 1/30. With the flash OFF, you should be able to set WB manually to the tube lighting. I'd also suggest setting the "SLOW" shutter parameter to allow a maximum of something slower than the 1/8 second of the default setting. And to minimize noise, use the "Natural" picture setting.

Hi Mike
If the camera is ok, the flash fires and subjects are within 3-4 meters from it, this should no longer be considered a low light situation.
Please make sure Exposure compensation is set to 0, shoot a pic within the above parameter and post again.

The Manual says to use "Forced Flash" under flourscent lighting.

I have had my Tizzy for less than a month. Some pics I've taken are incredible others plain horrible!!
I do not understand how some have come out so terribly!
They will look fine on the LCD but when printed they look like blotches of color all over it is unreal. I almost cried when i got my pictures back from our trip to Disney World.
I tried many settings, simple, different scenes etc. Someone recommended High Sensitivity and these looked great on LCD and pretty much not useable when printed even at 4x6. Will these clean up in the included software?
Today I've seen some saying NOT to use High Sensitivity??? Is this blotchiness a noise issue?
I also tried simple, normal, sports night etc
What is good for indoor or low light?
Most of the good photos were outside in bright light. Lots were blurry and unclear? Anyone have any thoughts? After seeing all the wonderful pics I must say I was SHOCKED!!!! not to mention devestated that my $300+ purchase was not what I expected.

My heart goes out to you in your disappointment. I'm sure you can get it figured out. Could you post some of the bad pics? Maybe we can help.
