I'm looking for a camera with a LCD that you're able to see at night while taking pictures, is there a specific name for this feature?

The Canon S3IS veiwfinder looks on to an LCD, rather than look out into space. This allows you to rapidly understand what the camera is seeing, itself.
It also has a LCD on the rear of the camera, like many other P&S digtial.
I hope this helps... no infrared or "night vision" capability that I know of, though.

Yeah I'm asking for a friend, her camera now has a LCD but she wants one that she can see at night, so you can tell what you're taking a picture of before you actually do, at night though.

Actually, that is what "the flash"

uh... not the character, was invented for. When you run out of necessary daylight... whoosh... 1/250 second burst of artificial light erupts and allows the photograph to be taken.

Hey, it's not a new idea... I'm just spreading the word. ;)

well good job boy wonder, but if you read my post i'm talking about the LCD itself being able to see what you're taking a picture of before you take it with "THE FLASH"..... as in the LCD is illuminated or somewhat bright enough to get a general idea of what you're about to take a picture of without having to first, then delete it if you don't like it

There are obviously light-enhancing scopes you could use in cooperation with your P&S camera, but nothing that comes to mind that has this rather fiesty feature already built in.
Now, there are adapters... for night vision scopes out there (see link below)
http://www.nightvisiongear.com/xq/ASP.prod/pid.2691-209/qx/yukon-digital-camera-adapter-accessory.htm
But, I'm not clear if this is the way you desire to go.
Scenario::: The lights are out... but, you know they are there... the scope has them picked out... up pops "muisack"... flash!... got 'em! "Ha ha, Sis! Mom's going to really love this one!"
Sorry... just kidding. :D

Muisack, if you are referring to a camera that has an LCD that brightens automatically in dark conditions, many cameras have this capability now. The Fuji F30, for one. I find it perfectly useable at night. If you read Jeff's reviews, he usually mentions whether or not the LCD "gains up". That's what you should look for.
